NICK GODDARD
THE FOUNDER
“Portage Design Group was born when I realized my passion for creating dynamic engaging projects was not being fulfilled working in a corporate environment. The standard formula has been thrown out along with its cumbersome infrastructure and high costs. We are the new, new thing: thoroughly modern, grounded, optimistic and eager to face challenges.”
With over twenty years of industry experience Nick brings a wealth of knowledge to any project.
His thoughtful, common sense approach to design is a benefit to clients and reflects the passion he brings to the process. His engagement with a multitude of high quality industry contacts and his breadth of experience combine to create unique and dynamic environments.
After obtaining a degree in Interior Design at Ryerson University he worked at a number of design firms in the Toronto area gaining valuable experience before starting his own interior design firm; Tsisko Goddard. Following several years of success Tsisko Goddard was re-launched as Portage Design Group Inc. Some noted projects Nick has been involved with are:The Museum of Illusions (Toronto); renovations to Ajax Downs Casino, Allstar Wings & Ribs locations, Lastman’s Bad Boy Superstore locations, Strike Rock n’ Bowl in Niagara Falls, Bangkok Garden, concept work for Royal Bank branch network and Laura Secord’s head office.
In addition to teaching Interior Design for several years as a full-time professor at the college level he was invited to continue teaching at the Ryerson University School of Interior Design starting in the fall of 2011. This teaching engagement went so well Nick was invited to teach extra courses and share his experience with a new generation of designers. Presently he is a guest critic at Ryerson University.
